On-line Course

Class sale at Craftsy!

Craftsy

Just a quick note that Craftsy is having a HUGE sale. You can save up to 50% off any of their classes.

I've been enjoying several quilting classes lately. You might enjoy enrolling in them too, especially now with the reduced price.

I never thought learning about quilt bindings would be fun and interesting, but Susan Cleveland makes it so in her class, "The Perfect Finish: How to Bind a Quilt". You'll definitely want to check out this technique class.

I've also been enjoying learning with Debby Brown in her course, "Free Motion Quilting with Lines, Curves and Loops". Debby uses 5 letters to create stunning free motion designs and she makes it look so easy.

Enrol in great courses at fantastic prices - but only until November 1!

P.S. I am a Craftsy affiliate and receive compensation if you enrol using my links. This helps me to continue to create videos, tutorials and share with all of you. Thanks!

Quilter on Fire Podcast with Brandy Maslowski

I recently attended Quilt Canada 2015 in Lethbridge, AB and was thrilled to finally meet Brandy Maslowski, the Quilter on Fire. I did a podcast interview with Brandy a few months ago, but had never met her in person. At Quilt Canada I had that opportunity! We had a chance to chat about quilting, technology and business. Brandy was a vendor at Quilt Canada and I purchased her Inksations pattern and the supplies to create the tablerunner.

Yup, I bought the whole kit - Inksations pattern, silk screen, squeegee and fabric paint!

I've been wanting to try printing on fabric for some time and was pleased that I could purchase everything I needed to get started in one kit. Brandy also has a video with instructions on how to use the Inksations kit, so this makes it even easier! You can view the video below or on Brandy's Youtube channel.

During our discussions, I mentioned to Brandy that I had recently released a new course on Curious about vintage sewing machines and she was excited to discuss this with me, so… you can listen to Quilter on Fire podcast #78 to learn more about The Joy of Vintage Sewing Machines

One lucky podcast listener will win their choice of three (3) PDF patterns from Chatterbox Quilts.

Everyone who listens to the podcast will receive a 20% off subscription code for Curious.com  where you can enjoy all of the courses and lessons offered on Curious. The Joy of Vintage Sewing Machines is the perfect course for someone who has always admired these classic sewing machines, but doesn't know how to evaluate and buy one for themselves. I'll walk you through the selection and evaluation process, and then teach you how to rejuvenate and repair your machine 4 you'll be sewing in no time. You'll also get a peek at some of the vintage sewing machines that I have in my collection. Two patterns are included in this class, so you can get started creating with your vintage sewing machine right away.

To take advantage of the 20% discount, just click here and start learning and creating.

I hope you enjoy the podcast and will subscribe to Brandy's channel so you can listen to all of her upcoming podcasts.

Catching up with Chatterbox Quilts

Happy April Fools' Day, everyone! While it is traditionally a day for pranks, I'm not going to play any on you - today.  Instead I'm catching you up on all the exciting events that have been happening over the past few very busy weeks.

Charlie almost "fooled" me into believing he is a quilter!

The first big change is our new blog and website. While the website URL hasn't changed, the blog is now on the same site as is our store. We're very excited about these changes and would love to hear your comments on our new look - and any problems you may encounter that we aren't (yet) aware of.

Next, my course, Essential Guide to Fusible Web Appliqué, was released on Curious.com. It was so gratifying to see all our hard work come to fruition and have the course "live" on their website. I have to say a huge thanks to my hubby for filming and editing this course. You did great, honey!

Next, I had the opportunity to talk to Brandy Maslowski of Canadian Quilt Talk and do a podcast with her. It was so fun to connect with a fellow quilter and we could've chatted for hours - if we both didn't have quilting to get back to! If you haven't yet had a chance to listen to her podcasts, please do so and consider registering for her upcoming Aloha Quilt Cruise. It sounds like it's going to be lots of fun!

Then, just a few days ago, the Spring issue of Quilter's Connection magazine appeared in my mailbox, with my Floral Oval embroidery design in it. I loved how they photographed this design and the colours they used on the pattern pages. I was especially pleased to see the cover quilt by Kim Hanson. It was great to see the two Kims from Calgary in this issue!

I've had such a good month, that I wanted to share some of this quilty goodness with you, my blog readers and subscribers, so I decided that a giveaway was in order. I'm giving away a copy of the Spring issue of Quilter's Connection magazine.

Leave your comment in the area below this blogpost to be eligible for the giveaway.
