Hi! I’m Kim Jamieson-Hirst and I’m looking forward to working with you in this online challenge. Over the years I have accumulated an extensive fabric stash and have developed a full-proof system to manage it. I want to share my system of sorting, organizing, and storing fabric (SOS) with you.

The goal of the Fabric SOS (Sort-Organize-Store) Challenge is to show you how to assess your fabric yardage, declutter it, and organize your "new" fabric stash. I'll be right by your side, via video, like this one, during the Fabric SOS Challenge as you go through your fabrics, deciding which ones to keep and which ones to release to new homes.

If you really need to clean up your fabric area,

but don’t know where to start and how to do it, this challenge is for you!

During the Fabric SOS Challenge, you’ll be focusing on one specific area in your studio – your fabric yardage stash - to prevent you from feeling overwhelmed. You’ll be getting emails from me for each step in it and there will be videos to show you exactly what to do in each step. I’ll be with you every step of the way. Of course, you’ll be able to check in with other quilters in the challenge, including me, if you need some help or encouragement. Once you have finished the challenge, your fabric stash will be so well organized that choosing fabrics for your next project will be a breeze.

Once you have successfully tackled your fabric yardage we will be addressing two additional areas:

  1. Pre-cuts – learn various options for storing different types of pre-cuts

  2. Fabrics for projects – learn the best way to organize and store fabrics that you have already selected for future projects

The Fabric SOS Challenge is an online challenge so you can join from anywhere in the world. It will include:

  • Videos for each step where I will help you work through that task

  • Encouragement and support of other quilters who are also participating in the Fabric SOS Challenge

  • A livestream (ZOOM) to answer any questions you may have during the challenge

By the end of this challenge, you will have:

  • Learned how to assess your fabrics

  • Learned the process of sorting your fabrics

  • Learned how to organize your fabrics

  • Learned how to properly store your fabrics

  • Learned how to maintain your fabric storage to avoid it becoming cluttered again (hopefully!)

Questions You May Have:

How long do I have access to the Fabric SOS Challenge

You will have access to the videos and information in the Fabric SOS Challenge for six months. The videos are available for download.

What if I can’t join the Fabric SOS Challenge now? Will I be able to join at a later date?

No, this is a limited time offer so that all participants can work together on the challenge and be successful together.

I’m not sure if I have enough time to complete the challenge.

You don’t have to do your entire fabric stash. If you have a large stash, I suggest that you only work with a part of it so you’ll learn the technique and then be able to apply the methods to the rest of your stash after the end of the challenge. The time you spend now – about 30 – 60 minutes day – will result in a well-organized stash that will save you lots of time in the future as you’ll be easily able to find the fabrics you need for your projects.

I’m not very computer savvy – will I be able to do the Fabric SOS Challenge?

Absolutely! The challenge very easy to navigate and we’ll be there to help you if you need it.
