Helping Quilters Learn and Improve
Fly Stitch Tutorial
It's another Telecast Thursday and time for more hand embroidery stitches! So far we've mastered the back stitch, the running stitch and the seed stitch. This week's video shows you how to do a fly stitch, which is a little more complicated than the first three stitches that you learned. Don't worry, it's not that complex and it is very effective if you use it on swirls and circles.
You can watch the video below or on my Youtube channel.
I hope you're finding these tutorials helpful and are trying out some of these stitches on actual projects. If you're looking for projects using these stitches, check out my FREE embroidery patterns. You'll be learning more stitches in future Telecast Thursday tutorials, allowing you to complete some of the designs, such as Flourishing Heart, that use more than these three stitches.
Let me know how the stitching goes - and send me photos of your projects.
Telecast Thursday - Quick Projects in a Hoop
This Telecast Thursday I'm taking a break from hand embroidery stitches to show you a quick project you can do with an embroidery hoop (so it is still sort of about embroidery).
I made these cute designs for gifts for friends and was really pleased by the end result. I think some of it was the fabric I used, which was from the Noteworthy line by Sweetwater for Moda. It was perfect for this project. I used wooden embroidery hoops - just inexpensive ones - but I think this would work equally as well with plastic hoops. You decide which you prefer.

Seed Stitch Tutorial
Welcome to Telecast Thursday. This week I'm continuing my series on hand embroidery by focussing on the seed stitch. This quick stitch is great to fill in large areas and it gives a rustic look to the embroidery. It's also called the chicken scratch and I'm sure you'll see why.
