Quilter’s Survival Guide for COVID-19
You may feel uncertain about doing your “hobby” while so much “bad” stuff is happening but keeping yourself occupied with your passion is a really good antidote to the worry you may be experiencing. Quilting is therapeutic. It focuses your mind on something positive, it has a clear outcome, and it results in something you can give away (if you wish) to brighten someone else’s day.
Quilting in the time of COVID-19 does require that you be flexible in your quilting activities. You need to approach quilting in ways that work for YOU. You and your situation are unique so you need to adapt your approach to quilting accordingly. The health risks of COVID-19 are scary enough by themselves but the economic effects are an unpleasant addition in an already uncertain time. Depending on your specific situation the impacts to the economy may make you reconsider expenses related to your quilting.
I am here to encourage you not to let the economic situation stop you from pursuing your passion. Each of us will have to consider their own personal financial situation but there are many ways to adapt your spending habits so that you can continue to pursue your passion. I have compiled a list of possible strategies you could use as a quilter to continue quilting during the COVID-19 crisis. Some of these ideas will have to be implemented in innovative ways to stick to social distancing guidelines but I know that as a quilter you will come up with lots of ideas on how make them happen safely. After all, we’re great at solving problems!
