Sewing Machines

Singer 48K Acquisition

Singer 48K Acquisition

Hello and thanks for joining me for Telecast Thursday! This week I'll be explaining why I added another Singer sewing machine to my stable of vintage machines. I know, I know, I'm not supposed to do this, but I did sell one of my other, larger machines, so I definitely had room to add this one. It's a portable hand crank model, so no, well minimal, floor space will be taken up by this machine.

Telecast Thursday - Couching with the Janome 8900

Welcome to the first Telecast Thursday of May! I've found another interesting foot for my Janome Horizon Memory Craft 8900 QCP - the Free Motion Couching Foot Set or as I call it, the couching foot.

With this foot you can apply yarn to your fabric projects to create interesting textures and effects. It takes a bit of trial and error with this foot, but stick with it and you can create some spectacular designs.

You can watch the video below or on my Youtube channel

Have you ever tried the couching foot? Leave a comment below on the results you achieved.

Singer Two Thread Embroidery Attachment

Singer Two Thread Embroidery Attachment

Before we had sewing machines that could stitch out hundreds, maybe even thousands, of decorative stitches, you had to use an attachment to create anything other than a straight stitch. One of these attachments was the two thread embroidery attachment made for Singer sewing machines. While these are cool little machines, it's very hard to find them now. I was fortunate enough to find one mixed in with a lot of Singer attachments and snapped it up right away!

Telecast Thursday - Janome Circular Sewing Attachment: Appliqué Circles

In previous videos I've shown you how to use the Janome Circular Sewing Attachment to create stitched circles on your projects, but you can use it for other applications too.

This Telecast Thursday I'll show you how to use this attachment to create perfect appliqué circles. It's easy and accurate. You'll need some fusible interfacing and fabric, large enough to create the desired size of you circle.

Learn how to make your own appliqué circles by watching the video below or on my Youtube channel.

What can you create with the Janome Circular Sewing Attachment? Share your ideas in the comments below.

Telecast Thursday - Janome Circular Sewing Attachment: Intersecting and Overlapping Circles

I'm back from my spring break and ready to get back into the quilting mode! This Telecast Thursday I have another video about the Janome Circular Sewing Attachment. On previous Telecast Thursdays I've shown you how to attach this attachment, stitch simple circles and use your decorative stitches to create more complex circles. This week I'll show you how to use this attachment to create overlapping and intersecting circles. Things get really intricate!

You can watch this video below or on my Youtube channel.

If you have the Janome Circular Sewing Attachment, I hope you've been having some fun playing with it. You can create some really amazing designs with this attachment and I think it would be great to use it to create a modern quilt and then fill the background around the designs with some filler designs, such as swirls or pebbles. Hmmm, sounds like another project I'll have to try!

Next Telecast Thursday I'll show you another way to use the Janome Circular Sewing Attachment, so tune in.
