Telecast Thursday - First Look at the Janome Artistic Edge cutter

Welcome to another Telecast Thursday! This week I'm sharing my first impressions of my latest tool: the Janome Artistic Edge digital cutter.

Thanks to Janome Canada, I have a new toy, er tool, in my quilt studio and am enjoying learning and playing with the Janome Artistic Edge. I love the large 15" x 15" mat that came with it and the fact that this particular model is wireless. It's very quiet and fast when it cuts.

I'm using the Artistic Edge to cut the appliqué shapes in some of the blocks in the One World Quilt Along (if you haven't joined us in this online quilt along, I hope you will). I love how easily and accurately it cuts these intricate shapes.

Watch the video below or on my YouTube channel to see some of the features of this amazing digital cutter.

Telecast Thursday - Real Quilting: Reflection

This week's Telecast Thursday is all about reflection.

I'm always looking ahead to my next project, my upcoming deadline or things I want to accomplish in the house - and that's a good thing, but sometimes it's good to look back. Reflecting on what you've previously accomplished in your life or in your quilting shows you how far you've come and can inspire you to accomplish more in the future.

Watch the video below or on my YouTube channel to learn more about why reflecting on your quilting journey to date is a good thing.

Telecast Thursday - Quilt Basting Spray Revisited

This is a special Telecast Thursday as my hubby and I are celebrating our 32nd anniversary. As you must've guessed, I was a child bride :)

I've had lots of comments and questions on my homemade quilt basting spray so I thought it was time to revisit this topic. Many of my viewers have tried it and been very pleased with the results. Some were wondering how long you could keep the spray and if it evaporated over time or if it might cause issues if left in their quilt. In this video I'm addressing some of these issues.

You can watch the video below or on my YouTube channel

Kim Jamieson-Hirst of Chatterbox Quilts shows you how to make your own quilt basting spray to use when basting your quilt sandwiches. No more pinning! Find the recipe for this homemade quilt basting spray at http://bit.ly/1nHuyqw Explore, Create, Share...all things fabric at Chatterbox Quilts We love to connect with and help our subscribers, so post any questions or comments below.

NOTE: Don't use the homemade quilt basting spray on fusible webbing, interfacing or stabilizer as it may damage these products and make them ineffective. I have only tried this on regular quilting cotton, so cannot attest to its effectiveness with any other type of produce.

If you've tried the homemade quilt basting spray, I'd love to hear how you liked it. If you have any questions that I didn't address in this video, let me know so I can answer them in a future video.

Thanks, Janome!

I have a big announcement: I am a Janome Artisan!

I've very excited to be partnering with Janome in creating projects and sharing information about some of their wonderful products.

I've had my Janome Horizon Memory Craft 8900 QCP (Janome 8900) for about 2 1/2 years now and really enjoy using it for my quilting and stitching. If you haven't had a chance to take a peek at some of the videos with the Janome 8900, they are in their own playlist so you can find them all in one place.

Recently Janome Canada loaned me a Janome Artistic Edge digital cutter as well as a Janome 500E embroidery machine. These machines are both new to me and while I've worked with digital cutters before, I've never even looked at an embroidery machine! Lots of learning, but I'm very impressed with the capabilities of both these machines.

You can expect to see blogposts and videos about the Janome Artistic Edge. I'll be using it to cut some of the appliqué shapes in the One World Quilt Along since it does such an amazing job on intricate designs. If you haven't already joined us in this online quilt along, I hope you'll do so as we're having lots of fun creating this cute quilt.

I always thought that machine embroidery machines did just that - only machine embroidery. I'm finding out that they can do a lot more! I'll really looking forward to combining appliqué with machine embroidery on the Janome 500E. You can look forward to following me on my learning and creating journey with this machine.

I'll be posting projects and tips in future blogposts and videos, so stay tuned for these.

If you have anything that you'd like to know about either the Janome Artistic Edge or Janome 500E, leave me a comment below and I'll do my best to help you out.

Off to do some creating!
