Schedule Changes for Chatterbox Quilts

Hi everyone:

If you are one of my Facebook followers you will have been enjoying my Facebook Live videos every Thursday. If you are one of my YouTube subscribers, you will also have been able to view a new video each week, also on Thursday. I realized that you have the opportunity to watch two different videos on the same day and thought that it would probably be better to adjust my video schedule just a bit.

Starting this week, I'll be changing my video schedule so you'll be able to watch my Facebook Live video every Thursday at 1:00 pm MST (you can always catch the replay on my YouTube channel or on my Facebook page afterwards) and my regular Youtube video, with the accompanying blogpost, every Tuesday.

What does this mean for this week? There will be a Facebook Live video on Thursday, September 7, 2017 and no regular YouTube video on that day. The regular YouTube video and blogpost for it will be released on Tuesday, September 12, 2017 and every Tuesday thereafter. So you'll miss one week of a regular YouTube video, but you'll still see me on my Facebook Live this week.

I think this will be a better video schedule for you, my subscribers and viewers, as you'll see me twice in one week. I hope you don't get tired of listening to me ;)

Sign up as one of my Facebook followers and/or YouTube subscribers so you'll be notified when new content is released every week.

If you are already one of my subscribers, thanks so much for watching and commenting on my videos. I really enjoy creating them for you and hope you find value in them.

Book Review - Shape by Shape Collection 2

Welcome to the last Telecast Thursday of August 2017! We've had 5 Telecast Thursday blogposts this month!

I can't believe that summer is waning and fall is just around the corner. The cooler weather brings a return to quilting and a great time to brush up on your free motion skills.

This week I'm taking a look at Shape by Shape Collection 2 from Angela Walters. Angela has amazing free motion skills and she shares them in her most recent book.

What I like about this book is that she provides you with ideas on how to quilt different shapes: circles, triangles, squares, etc. It's always challenging to decide what to put in this geometric areas, but Angela gives you lots of choices. She also provides variations on the designs for each section.

The book is well laid out with an index of the quilting designs in it right at the front of the book. It has lots of clear photographs and instructions on how to create each design.

Learn more about Shape by Shape Collection 2 by watching the video below or on my YouTube channel.

Shape by Shape Collection 2 by Angela Walters is a good reference book to have in the free motion quilting section of your library: lots of creative designs and clear instructions on how to stitch them.

Do you have a "go to" book that you use for free motion quilting designs? Leave me a Comment below letting me know its title.

The Community Quilt Along is Finally Here!

I'm thrilled to announce that registration for the Community Quilt Along is now open! Don't know about this 4 month online quilt along? Let me tell you all about it :)

Community 45½" x 49"

Community 45½" x 49"

Community is a modern quilt designed by Keith Phillips of QuiltFusion. Keith also designed last year's online One World Quilt Along, which was a huge success. Like the One World Quilt Along, the Community Quilt Along is in several parts (4, to be exact), with each new part being released on the 18th of the month, starting on September 18, 2017 and ending with the final part on December 18, 2017. Community is a pieced and fusible web appliqué project so it is easy to do, even for a beginner. Community uses solid fabrics in its construction, so if you have always wanted to try a project with these types of fabric, now is the time to enrol.

This is an online quilt along so you can join from anywhere in the world. As long as you have access to the internet, you'll be able to enrol in the Community Quilt Along

Each month you will receive a block pattern as well as an instructional video for that block. To help you in constructing Community, additional reference documents will be sent to you when you enrol and there are special BONUSES as well.

You may want to make Community but feel that you don't have time to make it starting in September: no problem! When you enrol in the Community Quilt Along, all of the patterns and videos are yours to keep so you can work through the quilt at your own pace. Enrol now to lock in the introductory price* and make Community when you have time.

For more information on the Community Quilt Along, watch the video below or on my YouTube channel

I hope you'll join me and other quilters around the world in the Community Quilt Along. For more information and to enrol today, click here.

Cutting Fabric Strips with Rulers

Last Thursday I explained my technique for straightening the edge of my fabric before I started cutting into it. This Telecast Thursday I want to show you how to cut strips from your fabric after it's been straightened.

It's important to learn the correct cutting method so that you don't get wavy strips. It's so frustrating to cut 10 strips only to realize that each one has a big wave - or two - in it! Certainly not desirable!

To properly understand this technique and learn the little tips that will help you in cutting your fabric strips, watch the video below or on my YouTube channel.

Keep in mind that this is my method for cutting fabric strips: there are other ways to do this that you might want to investigate too.

What are your best tips for cutting fabric strips? Leave me a comment below telling me your favourite technique.
